duction of 8,809 metric tons, the annual projection of production is 3,215,464 metric tons and would be 0.20 percent higher compared to the real 2016 pro- duction. This report is based on informa- tion provided to The Aluminium Asso- ciation of Canada by survey participants, which is aggregated by the Association. Global coating equipment to surpass $22 billion by 2025 DUBLIN, Ireland—The global coating equipment market is expected to reach $22.23 billion by 2025. The industry is expected to witness significant growth be- cause of high application scope coupled with growing consumption from the au- tomotive application. This is according to Coating Equipment Market Analysis by Product (Specialty Coating Equipment, Powder Coating Equipment, Liquid Coat- ing Equipment), by Application, by Region and Segment Forecasts, 2014-2025, a re- port from Research and Markets, an in- dustrial research firm. Robust growth in consumption owing to rising govern- ment spending, fast-growing population, and continued progress on infrastructure projects in Middle Eastern economies is likely to augment product utilization in the residential sector. Powder coating equipment accounted for a share of 38.7 percent of global market revenue in 2016 owing to low cost as compared to specialty coatings. The market is expected to witness sig- nificant competitive rivalry due to the presence of numerous players across the industry. As a result of changing con- sumer trend, various companies are launching new products to expand their product offerings and put up with the competition in the market. US manufacturing technology orders push recovery into seventh month MCLEAN, Va.—The expansion of US manufacturing technology orders slowed in August, but continued to push recovery into its third quarter. Au- gust orders were up 16 percent from July and 14 percent from August 2016. This is according to the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) as reported by companies participating in the United States Manufacturing Tech- nology Orders (USMTO) program. The recovery has not been smooth. Every month, the list of industries and regions that have seen expansion changes from the previous month, dif- ferent from the recovery experienced after the deep 2009 recession. "The 16 percent growth in orders in August was surprising as orders tend to slow during the summer months," said Douglas K. Woods, AMT president. "Recent meet- ings with our industry's top executives were peppered with optimism for con- tinued growth through the rest of 2017 and into 2018. Still, Washington can shore up that optimism if they can find the will to collaborate on tax reform to build an even stronger basis on which to invest in US manufacturing capacity." Conversations with AMT members pointed to a concern about the sudden slowdown in orders from the automo- tive industry during August, which fell by nearly 30 percent from July. August orders continued to expand in the face of that deficit though, thanks to signif- icant growth in orders placed by the job shop industry, power generation and several significant aerospace pro- jects. Though the northeast typically benefits from growth in aerospace in- vestments, the region still recorded a 4 percent decline in orders relative to July. Every other USMTO region posted double-digit increases and the south central region posted a near dou- bling of orders in August. The key leading indicators point to an improving market environment that would support an expansion of capital spending on additional capacity in the durable goods industry. Corporate prof- its for durable goods manufacturers were up 5 percent at the end of the second quarter of 2017 versus the first quarter and up 11 percent from the same quar- ter in 2016. Customers have the finan- cial resources to invest and are motivated to do so with the current low interest rates, particularly since many expect rates to increase over the next two years. The USMTO report provides regional and national US orders data of domes- tic and imported machine tools and re- lated equipment. The 6-month smoothed growth rate is a compound annual rate that measures the near-term trend. Usually, a growth rate above +1.0 percent signals an increase in metals activity, and a growth rate below -1.0 percent indicates a downturn in ac- tivity. The primary metals leading index growth rate has posted growth rates above +1.0 percent from April 2016 through September 2017, which could signal strength in the primary metals in- dustry. The September leading index should be considered preliminary be- cause only five of its eight indicators were available, and the leading index will be subject to revision when the other com- ponents are added next month. Powder coatings market set for rapid growth DOVER, Dela.—The growing chemi- cals and advanced materials industry has provided a major boost to the global powder coatings market as more people are shifting their preferences to compact and lightweight powder coatings carry- ing options. This is according to Global Powder Coatings Market by Manufactur- ers, Countries, Type and Application, Fore- cast to 2022, a report from Market Study Report, an industrial research firm. The report focuses on powder coatings in the global market, especially in North Amer- ica, Europe and Asia-Pacific, South America, Middle East, and Africa. It cat- egorizes the market based on manufac- turers, regions, type, and application.
