As of the printing of this annual repor t, the world, the United States, Illinois and Piatt Count y are undergoing emergency measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus causing COVID-19 disease. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough and shor tness of breath or difficult y breathing. Complications can include pneumonia and/ or organ failure. All areas of the countr y, state and our count y are under emergency shelter-in-place requirements that restrict public gatherings, advise against close contact (six feet or less) with non- household members and require wearing a mask in public. The impact of this virus on our communit y has been dramatic and sweeping. Schools have changed to at-home learning, businesses have closed or changed formats to limit gatherings and Kirby Medical Center has also drastically cut back on ser vices provided to limit person-to- person contact. All of these measures have taken a toll on our local economy and our way of life. What we have all learned over the years is the tenacit y of the human spirit in the face of adversit y, and today is no different, though it may be the hardest communit y and national adversit y we have experienced in generations. We are confident we, and the communit y, will sur vive this pandemic, and we'll do that by working together and suppor ting each other. We have been humbled by the outpouring of suppor t received from the public through donations of funds and resources for our hard- working caregivers who have answered the call ever y day through the coronavirus outbreak. They have cared for you and your loved ones, sacrificed time at home with their families and put their own well-being second for the greater good of our communit y. There is hope on the horizon. Thank you for what you have done for our communit y. We all will come out the other side of this pandemic smar ter, more prepared and closer to each other. A N U P D A T E O N COVID-19 2
