May 2020 / 43 WHAT'S NEW PBE Dust collector efficiently isolates dust particles over 3 microns MCD Whirl Wet dust collector is a modular conveyor drag-out system engineered for facilities with high dust loadings or that operate continuously. Unit efficiently isolates particles, including virtually all dust particles over 3 microns, whether or not the dusts are vola- tile. Unit monitors collected dust levels and when the levels reach a setpoint, the system's collection module is dragged out and replaced with an empty collection module, allowing operation (and routine maintenance) to continue without interruption. Unit is 95 to 99 percent efficient for soluble and insoluble particulates, and the unit's generated energy won't allow it to clog under any operating conditions, including the agglomeration and sticky residues that are common with dry collectors. Unit doesn't use common, high-maintenance compo- nents, such as spray nozzles, pumps, and dust bags. Instead, the system uses a process that creates an intense mixture of dust particles and water. Unit allows for compliance with OSHA and NFPA mandates regard- ing explosive dust emissions. Unit features include self cleaning, energy efficiency, low water use, and no internal moving parts. Unit can meet required system capacities from 1,000 to 60,000 cfm. Unit is constructed from stainless steel and can be supplied as a stand-alone unit or with ducting to one or multiple sources.
