This supplied-air version must also have a carbon monoxide moni- tor. If you're considering alternative respirators that aren't disposable, remember that the equipment is more expensive to use, must be assigned to individual employees, and requires storage space. Huddleston also notes that if a facility is having difficulty sourcing N95 respirators during the pub- lic health emergency, a manager should contact the state authorities and inform them of your situation. If your state authorities can't help, then escalating the issue to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) regional office is the next step in getting your necessary equipment. MARKETS UPDATE Global bucket elevator market to grow in line with construction industry gains The global bucket elevators market size is expected to reach $1,287.1 million by 2026, registering a 5.7 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) during the report's forecast period. This is according to the report Bucket Elevator Market Size, Share & Industry Analysis, by Type (Centrifugal and Continuous), by Industry (Cement, Food & Bev- erages, Chemical, Power & Energy, Paper & Pulp, Others), and Regional Forecast, 2019-2026 by Fortune Busi- ness Insights, a market research analysis company. The report was created using a joint study by Global Construction Perspectives, a construction industry think tank, and Oxford Economics, a company are particulate-filtering for up to 95 percent of airborne particles, as personal protective equipment (PPE) for their operations. During the COVID-19 pandemic, N95 res- pirators are needed for frontline health care workers, so many feed operations may have to seek alter- native equipment to maintain safety and health in their facility. Gary Huddleston, director of feed man- ufacturing and regulatory affairs, notes that feed facilities should think about the following questions: Are your employees using N95 disposable respirators only with essential tasks? Hazardous mate- rial handling requires review of the safety data sheet for that material, which should indicate what PPE is required, see Section 8 ("Exposure Controls/Personal Protection"). If your employees are using the N95 masks for nonhazardous materials, then using a single-strap dust mask may be more appropriate. Have you considered engi- neering controls? Engineering controls like properly installed dust collectors are a good solution for preventing dust exposures in your facility. Engineering controls may have a higher upfront cost but can be a good solution where feasible. Have you considered an alterna- tive respirator? While disposable N95 respirators are the most com- monly used respirator in the feed industry, there are other alterna- tives available, including a half-face respirator and full-face respirator. These offer excellent protection against hazards exposure and have a tighter fitting facepiece that uses disposable filter cartridges. Other options include a powered air- purifying respirator, which uses a battery-powered system to pull ambient air through a purifying device and into the user's breath- ing zone. Another respirator type and transportation company that works with more than 1,100 family farms to serve global markets. ASSOCIATION NEWS ACS's SciMeetings service provides online poster and presentation abilities Through its Publications division, the American Chemical Society (ACS) has created SciMeetings, a service that will allow researchers to share their findings via online posters and presentations. SciMeet- ings is powered by Morressier, a company that's created a platform for academic conferences around the world, and is a fully open- access product that is searchable, citable, and shareable. Posters and presentations receive a DOI number and creative commons license upon upload, and video or audio can be embedded to enhance the submis- sions. Content is fully indexed and will be searchable on the ACS Pub- lications and Morressier platforms. The SciMeetings platform is available to provide an online option for presenters and confer- ence organizers that have delayed or postponed conferences in light of the global pandemic. The plat- form will be available for future events to help support the global scientific community. ACS, Washington, DC, is a non- profit organization chartered by the US Congress with a mission to advance the broader chemistry enterprise and its practitioners for the greater good. AFIA blog post offers guidance on PPE during pandemic The American Feed Industry Asso- ciation (AFIA) has shared advice for feed manufacturing facilities that rely on N95 respirators, which
