Louisiana plans new rice mill to support export market for local farmers Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards and the South Loui- siana Rail Facility (SLRF) have announced that SLRF will develop an $11.6 million rice mill in Jeffer- son Davis Parish. The mill will be in Lacassine Industrial Park. SLRF is owned by the Jefferson Davis Parish Police Jury and currently handles up to 25,000 bushels of rice per hour for storage and export. The new mill project will create seven new direct jobs. Louisiana Economic Development (LED) esti- mates that the project will result in 28 new indirect jobs, totaling about 35 new jobs in the region.
