September 2020 / 51 PBE AROUND THE INDUSTRY SUPPLIER NOTES K-State Bulk Solids Innovation Center celebrates 5 years The Kansas State University (K-State) Bulk Solids Innovation Center (BSIC) is celebrating its milestone 5-year anniversary. Opened in June 2015, the two-story, 13,000-square-foot facility houses six laboratories for university and industry-sponsored research, a testing bay, and conference and lecture rooms. The center has partnered with several companies to provide research and consulting services ranging from small-scale sample material characterization to full- scale material handling and storage. Professional development courses are also available at the center, including upcoming sessions that will cover pneumatic conveying and the storage and ow of bulk solids. The K-State BSIC has trained pro- fessionals from 42 states and several countries. Current course titles include Foundations of Pneumatic Conveying, Advanced Pneumatic Conveying, and Storage and Flow of Bulk Solids, and speci c details on those courses can be found in PBE's Calendar section and in the biweekly newsletter, PBE-News, and at the organization's website at https://bulk-solids.k-state.edu. The facility was established as a partnership between the Salina area Chamber of Commerce, Salina Economic Development Corpora- tion, US Department of Commerce, Salina Development Administra- tion, the state of Kansas, and the city of Salina. Additionally, industry partners have donated equipment, services, and instruction. K-State BSIC, Salina, KS, pro- vides innovative solutions in bulk solids storage, ow, conveying, and material handling.
