October 2020 / 51 WHAT'S NEW PBE Feeder controller redesign allows Industry 4.0 integration KCM-III feeder controller has been redesigned from previous models to include a larger 5-inch LCD screen with an improved user interface, context-sensitive help, stainless steel enclosure, and built-in ethernet capability with optional Wi-Fi. Controller supports various application types, both batch and continuous, from loss-in-weight feeders to weighbelt feeders to flow meters. Controller can be accessed via a user- friendly web page that includes a full-feature user interface. Controller offers new CPU with extended memory for log and event files, traceability, and pro- cess data storage. Controller is equipped for Industry 4.0 functions, including predictive maintenance, electronic service options, overall equipment effec- tiveness, outlier detection, machine optimization, and others. Controller combines the motor drive and con- trol modules of a feeder and its ancillary components into one component. Controller is generally mounted directly at the feeder and prewired and pretested at the factory. Controller's motor setup, diagnostics, and operator interface functions are integrated into the user interface. Controller can be paired with the sup- plier's SFT load cells for a higher weighing resolution of 1:8,000,000 in 20 milliseconds.
