ASSOCIATION NEWS The American Feed Industry Asso- ciation (AFIA) has announced that Constance Cullman, AFIA's president and CEO, and Mallory Gaines, AFIA's manager of mar- ket access and trade policy, have been appointed to serve on the US Department of Agriculture-Foreign Agricultural Service's Agricul- tural Policy Advisory Committee (APAC) and Agricultural Techni- cal Advisory Committee (ATAC) for Trade in Animals and Animal Products, respectively. Cullman and Gaines join Gina Tumbarello, AFIA's director of international policy and trade, who has served on the ATAC for Trade in Grains, Feed, Oilseeds, and Planting Seeds since 2014, in pro- viding technical and policy advice and information about US animal food products and the industry to the secretary of agriculture and US Trade Representative (USTR). Congress established the advi- sory committee system in 1974 to ensure that US agricultural trade policy objectives reflect US public- and private-sector commercial and economic interests. The US Depart- ment of Agriculture and the USTR manage the committees. Cullman and Gaines will serve until 2024. The eShop Parti- cle Analysis page provides direct access to information on the com- pany's particle analysis products, including test sieves, sieve shakers, sample dividers, cleaning items, related accessories, and service SUPPLIER NOTES Bühler launches Minnesota- based food application center Bühler Minneapolis has announced the opening of its new Food Applica- tion Center (FAC) based in Plymouth, MN. The unveiling occurred in June during the company's virtual event, Bühler Go!2020. With the new food center, the company aims to support and drive innovation for its custom- ers, industry partners, and academia. According to Bühler North America's CEO Andy Sharpe, the solutions developed through the center will help feed a grow- ing global population of nearly 10 billion people by 2050. The FAC was created to develop methods of transforming peas, beans, oats, grains, maize, and other crops into new food sources such as flours, snacks, pastas, and more. The com- pany says the FAC features the latest in raw material processing and han- dling systems, capable of taking raw materials through to the finished product that's ready for packaging, bringing a food source from "farm to fork" or from "bean to burger." The FAC will provide educational opportunities for better understand- ing technology, food processing, food safety, digitalization, and other related topics. The FAC will serve as a training facility for food process- ing companies wanting to educate their operations and maintenance staff on efficient processing and best practices.
