Organizers, which include the US Poultry & Egg Association, the American Feed Industry Associa- tion, and the North American Meat Institute, decided to cancel the in-person component of the event due to COVID-19 safety concerns for all involved. Virtual IPPE will highlight feed, poultry, and meat production and packaging equipment and services through an exhibitor marketplace engagement and educational pro- grams — for both attendees and exhibitors — during the week the event is scheduled and beyond. The Georgia World Congress Center, where IPPE had been planned, was the rst conven- tion center in the United States to achieve GBAC STAR accredi- tation for cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention. Accreditation requires facilities to demonstrate compliance with the program's 20 elements, which range from standard operating procedures and risk assessment strategies to personal protective equipment and emergency pre- paredness and response measures. Nonetheless, after extensive surveys, direct industry and stake- holder feedback, and an expected decrease in participation, organiz- ers decided to cancel the exhibition and to try to replicate those same elements in a virtual environment.
