April 2021 / 41 Flexible screw conveyor suitable for abrasive materials Flexible screw conveyor is designed to handle abrasive materials, including crushed glass, garnet, aluminum oxide, silica sand, aggre- gate, and cement. Unit is composed of a carbon steel conveyor tube, a heavy-duty flexible screw, and a heavy-gauge floor hopper and dis- charge housing. Unit's flexible screw is available in lengths up to 40 feet in round, square, flat, or beveled profiles to optimize conveying effi- ciency for each application, and the self-centering screw provides ample space between itself and the tube wall to minimize or eliminate grind- ing. Unit's screw imparts a gentle rolling action that prevents blended material separation during convey- ing, while the enclosed conveyor tube prevents material contamina- tion and plant contamination. Unit's conveyor tube is available in various configurations, including curved, vertical, horizontal, or any required angle. Unit's screw is the only mov- ing part contacting the material, allowing simple maintenance in harsh environments. PRODUCT NEWS Deflection elbow features compact design, protects particle shape Gericke Bend GB deflection elbow for pneumatic conveying systems protects particle shape, reduces elbow wear, and saves space in a conveying system compared to conventional sweep and long radius elbows. Elbow has a compact design that gathers material and conveying air or gas in a round, rotating deflection zone that virtu- ally eliminates destructive particle impact with the elbow wall. Elbow allows the material leaving the elbow to gradually and gently con- tinue through the conveying line, promoting smooth, efficient con- veying and a dust-free environment with reduced line downtime for maintenance savings.
