Golats report strongest showing yet Golat Implement Days was held Aug. 1-2. Chet and Deb Golat have put on this show for 15 years to honor their dad, Ed Golat of Golat Implement in Conrath Wis. Chet reports that it was a great show this year, with 445-plus people and the best weather ever. There were more than 95 tractors, plus Implements, 38 Allis-Chalmers and Simplicity lawn-and-garden tractors, three Allis walk-behind snow blowers, a walk-behind tiller and a push mower purchased from Polacek Implement. The 1970 Allis Chalmers Terra Tiger six-wheel all- terrain vehicle was the talk of the show. Allis-Chalmers was the first ever to make a vehicle to go in and out of water for duck hunting, fishing and out-of-water hunting, etc. It had three alien passengers driving it all day. The three aliens were brought to earth on a spaceship that was displayed at the show, with a cow being beamed up into the craft. This rare Terra Tiger find was purchased by and is owned by Chet and Brian Golat. A special guest, Dave Strazkowski, came out with his Allis-Chalmers lawn- and-garden tractors and implements to do some field demos. Strazkowski plowed with his 920 A-C diesel and tilled with his A-C 919 gas garden tractor and Industrial A-C tiller. He is known throughout Wisconsin for his field demo shows -- an Allis man all the way. There were people from all over Wisconsin and Minnesota. One man brought an A-C WC Patrol Grader. On Saturday, free Golat Implement coffee mugs custom-designed by Mary Chetsney were given away. On Sunday, there were barrel races with tractors. First place went to Mitch Schweitzer on an A-C C tractor. Second place went to David Metcalf on an A-C C tractor. Third place went to Mike Sutton on a Farmall F20. In the chain drag race, first place went to Mitch Schweitzer on an A-C C tractor, second place to Mike Sutton on his Farmall F20, and third went to Mitch Schweitzer on a Farmall F20. There was a tractor race to see who could go the slowest without stopping the tractor. In first place was A.J. Fisher on an A-C D17. Second place went to Dave Metcalf on Chet's A-C C, and third place was awarded to Mitch Schweitzer. A special thank-you goes to Tony Vojtacek and family for their donations. Trophies were given to the Parker family (Jim, Doug, Rhonda, Ryan and Paige) for best Allis-Chalmers tractor lineup. Thanks to the 14 OLD ALLIS NEWS
