When Logan Fant graduated from high school this past spring, he was easy for family to spot among the sea of black mortarboards at the ceremony; his was the only one sporting an Allis- Chalmers logo. Logan's interest in not just A-C tractors but agriculture in general is apparent. After completing his studies at Federal Way, Wash., part of the Seattle metropolitan area, he moved to the Gifford, Ill., to farm with his grandpa's brother, Randy Duden, who raises crops. He also plans to attend Parkland College in Champaign, Ill., this fall. Logan's mom, Linda, grew up on the family farm in Illinois and moved to the West Coast as an adult. She said he has a passion for farming and loves being around his family's A-C equipment. They exhibited a D17 Diesel and Landhandler 180 Diesel at the Gathering of the Orange this summer in Penfield, Ill. "I didn't have to ask him twice if he wanted to drive in the parade," Duden said. "He loves his grandpa's tractors." Linda, who made the trip back to Illinois for the GOTO, said she had no problem picking out Logan at the graduation ceremony, where some 300 students walked across the stage. The square mortarboard is "built just for" the diamond-shaped A-C logo, she added. He has since moved to the family farm in Illinois. WC, at the recent Gathering of the Orange in Penfield, Ill. This was their first GOTO and tractor show in general, and they enjoyed it so much, it likely won't be their last. Keith said he and Sam really enjoyed spending time with Kirkpatrick and learning from him. They recently built a shop on their small farm and hope to continue working on tractors, including Keith's favorite model — a 190 XT. Kirkpatrick, an IH fan, said there are now remnants of orange paint throughout his shop, but he isn't complaining; it was fun to collaborate with the Clems and help them get into the A-C restoration hobby. 29 OLD ALLIS NEWS
