The Blythe family of western Illinois has a long history with Allis-Chalmers. The late Keith Blythe of La Harpe, Ill., had A-C tractors and Gleaner combines, and with his three sons, raised corn, beans and alfalfa, along with cattle and hogs. While farming, Greg worked at Syfert Implement in Blandinsville, Ill., and sold A-C tractors and Gleaner combines for Robert Syfert. Greg continued collecting A-C tractors and currently has 17. His son Lance also is farming with A-C tractors and Gleaner combines. Son Trenton recently married, and the couple had their reception at Lance's shop and seed station. Three of the family's A-C tractors -- a D15, D17 and D21 -- and S97 Gleaner were included. Pictured are the bride and groom -- CC and Trenton; the family's A-C collection; and the reception area in the shop. Four generations enjoy Allis-Chalmers Thanks for Helmer story Dave and Heidi, Thanks for providing a great magazine on Allis- Chalmers equipment and the people who are interested in them. Thanks for the article and information on Adam Helmer. He was a student of mine and a great FFA officer at Campbellsport High School over 30 years ago. He chaired our farm toy show for two years. Adam loved equipment and had us take a few side trips on FFA events to see an equipment boneyard of farm equipment and then described the background of each Allis tractor. I attended Adam and Julia's farm auction near Brantwood and enjoyed visiting with Julia and many Allis equipment enthusiasts. Again, thank you for your great work. Bob Panzer, Cadott, Wis. Letters from you ... Letters from you ... Reader likes fixing A-C's Dear sir, Just a few words to say I enjoyed a copy of Old Allis News. I have had Allis-Chalmers equipment for a good many years. My dad bought the first WC in 1936 in Franklin County, Kansas. Right now, I have a CA Allis, a '49 WD, two WD45's and a D17 1957. I enjoy just fixing up old A-C's. Thank you. Ben Scott, Washburn, Mo. P.S. I have about 60 pounds of books on A-C history. Have a lot of tractor manuals, from the first old A-C built to the HD41 A-C dozer. If interested, my number is (417) 541-0752. 21 OLD ALLIS NEWS
