63 BizEd May/June 2014 The Board of Directors of AACSB International seeks a proven leader, innovator, and global thinker for the position of President and Chief Executive Offi cer. Established in 1916, AACSB International is a global, nonprofi t membership organization of educational institutions, businesses, and other entities devoted to the advancement of management education. AACSB educates students, parents, employers, and counselors about accreditation, and how to choose a quality business degree program that fi ts their needs. AACSB has more than 1,400 member organizations, representing 87 countries and territories, that support excellence in business education. Currently, 694 institutions representing 45 countries and territories hold AACSB Accreditation in business, and of these, 181 also hold accreditation in accounting. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida with a regional offi ce in Singapore and an offi ce in Europe under consideration, AACSB employs 76 staff in these and other locations. AACSB generates about $16 million in annual revenues from membership dues, accreditation fees, conferences, seminars, and sales of other products and services. The new President/CEO will replace John J. Fernandes, who is retiring after fi fteen years of transformational leadership. Reporting to a 30-member Board of Directors and serving as a member of that Board, the President/CEO will provide vision, leadership, and effective management for AACSB programs, outstanding cadre of volunteers, and talented staff. She or he will guide the organization through its next phase of development, innovation, and growth, providing visibility and outreach while serving as AACSB's public face. The President/CEO will be an individual of exceptional intellect, vision, and global outlook; an institution builder and team leader who listens well, communicates persuasively, and embraces the work of management education in a global environment. For this important role, AACSB seeks a successful leader in business, higher education, and/or not-for-profi t associations with a demonstrated ability to think strategically. She or he will be expected to lead and implement strategic planning efforts around key issues facing the organization, including globalization and continued international expansion, the impact of increasing technology on management education, and enhancing the value of accreditation. She or he must demonstrate a commitment to diversity with a proven record of working cross-functionally in teams with broad and diverse backgrounds, the ability to gain consensus among high-profi le leaders from diverse organizations, a welcoming personality that invites collaboration and participation, and the ability to communicate effectively in both large and small group settings. The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in business or a related fi eld, experience working with leaders in higher education and other sectors, a commitment to standards of excellence as refl ected in accreditation processes, and a vision for the organization's global potential.
