clarification industry news Generics should mirror brand products, FDA says SILVER SPRING, MD—The FDA pub- lished a Guidance in June that recom- mends generic drug products resemble their branded counterparts in order to improve patient compliance and reduce errors. The document, "Size, Shape, and Other Physical Attributes of Generic Tablets and Capsules," applies only to new generics. In addition to size and shape, the weight and film-coat finish should also match the original. Perrigo to acquire GSK OTC portfolio DUBLIN, Ireland—Perrigo agreed to acquire popular OTC brands from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Brentford, UK.
