42 April 2017 Tablets & Capsules Tablet analysis suite Benchtop suite includes powder compaction and tablet tensile analyzers that simplify and expedite evaluation and characterization of APIs, excipients, and solid-state formu- lations by compacting and breaking round, flat-faced tablets of 1 to 15 millimeters in diameter. Compact, portable suite performs analysis on small quantities and generates no waste. It operates fast and provides comprehensive in-die and out-of-die measure- ment of tablet manufacturability by assessing in-die compaction properties and post- compaction tablet diameter, tensile strength, thickness, and weight. Suite's proprietary software characterizes tabletability, compactability, compressibility, elastic recovery, over-compaction risk, detachment stress, and ejection stress of any solid-state material. It can also perform at-line QA/QC tests. Gamlen Tableting, London, UK. Nondestructive test identifies leak location in seconds. Unit requires no change parts, special tooling, para- meter inputs, or sample preparation. In operation, you input number of blister cavities, place blister package on inspection plate, and press "Start." Detector displays pass/fail result and image of tested package. Unit's small footprint conserves floor space and enables you install it next to packaging line for rapid feedback. Company also offers Pentapack packag- ing equipment for thermo- and cold-form blister packages. PTI Inspection Systems, Tuckahoe, NY. Tablets are inspected at same time they pass through single- or multi- lane printer that applies letters, logos, and other imprints to one or both sides. Inspection system identifies print registra- tion errors; incomplete, double, or blurry printing; chipped, capped, or broken products; and coating defects and specks. Suited for use in R&D and production, machine handles as many as 1,000,000 tablets per hour. Vacuum-driven pick-off provides single-tablet rejection. Company also offers drilling systems with vision inspection. Ackley Machine, Moorestown, NJ. Tel. 856 234 3626 www.ackleymachine.com
