cylindrical tablets [1]. This problem arises because flashing introduces errors in the measured thickness. Consequently, when tablet density is calculated from the tablet's weight and volume, the result will be erro- neous. Such errors can then propagate to subsequent analyses of tablet compressibility, which would make characterizations of the tablet's true density, plasticity, and powder consolidation behavior erroneous as well. In some cases, measurements of compression parame- ters—including mean yield pressure derived from a Heckel analysis—could be off by nearly a hundredfold.
