Tuesday Amar Sawhney of Ocular Therapeutix will talk about applications of crosslinked PEG hydrogels. On Wednesday Pala Hammond of MIT will present "Nanolayers for drug delivery: From cancer to wound healing." Scientific sessions The educational program includes "Advances in manufacture, character- ization, stability, and regulation," which covers scaleup of commer- cially viable processes and methods to prepare and characterize con- trolled-release products; "Delivery of drug combinations," which focuses on identifying effective drug combi- nations and their formulation and development; and "Delivery tech- nologies in nutraceuticals, foods, and oral products," which examines all The annual Controlled Release Society (CRS) meeting and exposi- tion will take place July 16-19 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel in Boston, MA. Pre-meeting workshops Half-day and full-day workshops are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, July 15 and 16. They include "Basic concepts of oral drug delivery," chaired by Daniel Bar- Shalom of the University of Copenhagen. Presentations will cover topics such as pharmacokinet- ics and principles of drug release, challenges of immediate-release for- mulations, methods to improve solu- bility, modified-release formulations, mucoadhesion, formulation analytics, and characterization of in vitro drug product behavior. Plenary sessions Each day of the conference will feature a different plenary speaker. Sunday afternoon, Robert Langer of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will present "Controlled drug delivery systems and the creation of new medical treatments." Monday morning, What?
