Tablets & Capsules May 2018 27 Weighing-dosing system Conweigh weighing-dosing system integrates with VS and PPC vacuum conveyors to grav- imetrically load more than 2 kilograms of coarse and fine pow- ders with a ±1 percent accuracy. Unit operates by loss-in- weight or gain-in-weight. System applications include loading mixers, weighing raw materials, unloading small batches from bags, weighing stirrer vessels, and metered conveying and weighing. User specifies the amount of material to be conveyed via touch screen. Operator can also program the system to pick up materials from numerous sending stations according to the product recipe. VS and PPC conveyors are easy to access and clean and move material without segregation, damage, or abra- sion. When used with level-controlled buffer hoppers, convey- ors can transfer from 10 pounds to 6 tons of material per hour. Company also offers bulk bag unloaders, hoists, delumpers, and dust collectors. Volkmann, Bristol, PA 609 265 0101 www.volkmannusa.com Hygienic round-top removal filter Hygienic round-top (HRT) removal filter is designed for sanitary applications where dust collection is required in low-capacity pneumatic conveying systems such as vacuum loading of extruders or refilling minor or micro hoppers. Pulse-jet filter features a convenient hinged dome top, which sim- plifies cleaning, and snap-band filter bags that can be removed from the top with no tools, speeding changeover. Company offers two HRT filter models. Filter unit without the hopper is suitable for use as a bin vent filter for storage tanks, work bins, and surge hoppers. Model that features a 60-degree-an- gle hopper receives dust through the hopper inlet and discharges the collected dust through an air- lock for disposal or recycling. Unit can also function as a product receiver, separating the product from the airstream using centrifugal force and gently discharging it through an airlock at the hopper discharge. Filter includes a number of features critical for sanitary processing, including 3-A-approved interior and exterior finishes; ferrules mounted for use with a clean-in-place skid and clean-out-of- place filter media and purge pipes; stainless-steel diaphragm bodies and bag cages; 3-A-approved, 16-ounce singed-polyester bags; and a spring-assisted hinge for clean-air plenum access. Schenck Process, Kansas City, MO 816 891 9300 www.schenckprocess.com Bulk bag unloader Pharma-grade bulk bag unloader fully contains bulk bags during discharge and removal. Interlocked for safety, the powered pinch bars clamp the bag neck, allowing the opera- tor to safely release the neck ties. When API potency requires, all unloading activities—such as releasing the neck ties, cutting open sealed liners, and feeding them through the clamp ring and over the discharge spout—take place in a negative-pressure enclosure connected to a HEPA filtration system. Liner clamps operate manually or pneumatically. Spiroflow Systems, Monroe, NC 704 246 0900 www.spiroflow.com
