On August 26, 2011, members of the Carson-Newman community assembled for the dedication of the Netherton Gate. Enhancing the campus entrance on Russell Avenue, the gate was an anonymous gift given in honor of Dr. James S. Netherton, C-N president from 2000 to 2007. On hand for the event were C-N's First Couple Randall and Kay O'Brien, Dr. James and Patricia Netherton, members of the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and students.
