USA HOCKEY MAGAZINE OVER THE YEARS 1960 January 1960: In the beginning, the United States Amateur HOCKEY magazine cost $3 for a yearlong subscription and promised its readers to be "informative, entertaining, clear and of value to all enthusiasts of United States hockey." 1965 1970 June/July 1976: In the 1970s, full-color photos were introduced and the magazine, then called United States Hockey & Arena Biz, expanded its focus to include "the successful operation and construction of ice facilities." March 1980: "Peanuts" comic strip creator Charles Schulz, a long- time friend of USA Hockey, contributed to this issue which, through a last-second addition, also included a review of Team USA's "Miracle on Ice" performance at the 1980 Olympic Winter Games. 1975 1980 December 1983: Former U.S. President Ronald Reagan twice October 1995: The development of youth hockey at the grassroots level has remained a constant theme throughout the publication's seven decades. 2000 November 1997: In the fall of 1997, American Hockey Magazine was again re-designed to provide its readers with the best possible publication in both content and appearance. 1995 1990 January 1992: As the primary communications tool between USA Hockey and its membership, American Hockey Magazine captured both the triumphs and tragedies over the years – including the passing of American coaching legends Bob Johnson (January 1992) and Herb Brooks (September 2003). USA Hockey 75TH ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIVE PROGRAM 61 1985 graced the cover of American Hockey & Arena magazine while being presented with a team jersey from the 1984 and 1988 U.S. Olympic Men's Hockey Teams.
