Over the years Moore has given countless hours of his time to help grow the game by making hockey available for kids of all ages and skill levels. aul Moore left Falmouth, Mass., in the mid-1980s to pursue his dream of playing professional hockey and is now back in the Bay State helping other kids realize their dreams. $5.5 million eco-friendly ice arena is set to open in Falmouth. A forefront principle of the new rink is finding ways to keep ice time costs low so the sport is available for as many youths and adults as possible. "We have outgrown our current facility and A product of the local youth hockey associa- tion, Moore played for Falmouth High School before helping Southeastern Massachusetts University – now UMass-Dartmouth – to three consecutive ECAC Division III titles in his four years with the team (1981-85). He continued his playing career for two years in the International Hockey League before retir- ing as a player after a two-game exhibition stint with the New York Rangers in 1987. Once he returned home, Moore began his volunteering career in 1978 by working with a "Learn to Skate" program in Falmouth. Since then, Moore has become the president of the Falmouth Youth Hockey League. He has worn many hats over the years, including that of volunteer, coach, coaching director, ACE program director, development direc- tor and as a member of the board of directors and board of governors. Perhaps Moore's biggest accomplishment will come to fruition this month, as a new 8 with such limited places to build an ice rink in Falmouth, we are extremely pleased to have found a location that will benefit children, their parents and the community as a whole," Moore said. "The future home of Falmouth Youth Hockey is more centrally located and will have easy access to the highway. Most importantly, it will give our kids and adults a state-of-the-art facility that they deserve." In addition, Moore is committed to maintain- ing financial resources to offer "Try Hockey for Free" programs to encourage new participation in the sport. He also designed a program for four elementary schools offering after-school skating and "Learn to Play" programs. His work as president and his commitment to youth hockey has resulted in four Massachusetts State Championships. In addition, this year Falmouth started an all-girls 10 & Under house program for young girls to try hockey and play at a low cost. USA Hockey to a volunteer who, during many years of service, has displayed a selfless dedication to the enhancement of ice hockey at the grassroots level in America. The award is named in honor of the late Wm. Thayer Tutt, who served as president of USA Hockey from 1972-86. The winner of the Wm.
