SENIOR ASSOCIATE DEAN Dean, College of Business UAE University The Dean must have vision and leadership to sustain and enhance excellence in all parts of the College mission, entrepreneurial, and research interactions. The Dean is responsible for administration of the college, participation in University governance and representing the faculty of Business to outside communities. Duties and Responsibilities • Leading the processes of college administrator selection and overseeing the processes of faculty and staff selection and retention. • Coordinating the professional development of college administrators and staff. • Evaluating college administrators and staff in consultation with college fac- ulty and staff. • Evaluating Department Chairpersons/Managers with the faculty and staff. • Evaluating overall Departmental productivity in instruction, research, and service responsibilities. • Providing recommendations to the Provost regarding sabbaticals and other leaves for faculty and staff. The University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration The Culverhouse College of Commerce seeks a qualified individual for the position of Senior Associate Dean (tenured) effective June 1, 2013 or earlier (if possible). Tenure decisions are subject to approval by the Provost. The Senior Associate Dean, in collaboration with the Dean, provides strategic leadership and promotes excellence in all phases of the College's activities. This position, in partnership with the Academic Chairs and other college administrators, supports faculty growth and development in teaching, scholarship, and professional activities while • Advising the University Provost on University policies and procedures. • Providing recommendations to the Provost on policies and procedures, espe- cially in the academic area. • Managing non-faculty college staff members. • Developing, leading, and encouraging fundraising in support of the college's goals and the goals of its departments and programs, as well as outreach and public service efforts. Knowledge and Technical Skills Required To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Responsible for oversight of all College initiatives and monitoring the progress of AACSB reaccreditation efforts. The Associate Dean serves in place of the Dean, as needed. Salary is competitive. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or terminal degree in business related discipline; professorial rank; successful record of scholarly research and previous experience as a department chair (or higher level) in academic administration at a In addition, college or university.
