Once she started using her brand new DSLR it became a hobby and her passion for photographing animals developed from there. At least twice a month Madeline tries to visit the zoo to gather more shots. "I find my favourite photos are all level with the animal I'm shooting, with the animal awake and hopefully interacting with its surroundings," Madeline says. Madeline is drawn to the textures, patterns and personalities that can shine through a photograph. "One of my favourite photos is of a Barking Owl at Healesville Sanctuary. She's such a beautiful bird, the photo really highlights the different shades of her feathers while bringing out the gold of her eyes." MEET ZOO MEMBER MEGAN JACKSON Megan first became interested in photography in high school but it wasn't until she started travelling about six years ago that her passion was ignited. She mainly photographs people and portraiture but this year, initially as an outlet, she started to focus on wildlife photography. "You have no control taking photographs of animals, it's all about patience," Megan says. "You're trying to tell a story, and make somebody feel something as they look at the photograph. With an animal just like with a person, you want to try and capture what it is that makes that subject unique, and present it in such a way that hopefully hasn't been seen too many times before." Her relatively new passion has helped her work out her next bucket list item, "I would love to Browse Madeline's photos on Instagram kinslaya12 ultimately do a safari somewhere, that's what I would love to do one day."
