Tablets & Capsules January 2019 35 LIW feeders PH loss-in-weight (LIW) vibratory tray feeders are ideal for continuous extrusion and granulation processes, especially when using non-free-flowing APIs and other difficult mate- rials. Feeder uses gentle vibration to achieve feedrates from 32 ft3/h to as low as 0.07 ft3/h without producing buildup, which can occur when using twin-screw feeders. Unit's load cells and KCM controller provide high-accuracy feeding, and the easy-to-clean vibratory tray ensures quick change- over. Specialty control algorithms prevent the vibrations from interrupting the LIW load cell signal. Coperion K-Tron, Sewell, NJ 201 327 6300 www.coperion.com Granulation dryers Company's Gruenberg explosion-resistant granulation dry- ers are rated for Class A pharmaceutical operations and han- dle processing solvents per NFPA 86 specifications. Dryers use horizontal airflow, which maximizes heating rates and maintains temperature uniformity within ±2°C at operating temperatures from 40° to 60°C. A variable-frequency-drive circulation blower directs heated air through a diffuser panel into the work chamber. The air passes horizontally across the product trays and exits through a diffuser panel on the chamber's opposite side. The air then returns to the dryer's heat and circulation system for reheating and recirculation. Dryers are available in a variety of sizes with work chambers from 15 to 800 cubic feet and can accommodate trucks for quick and easy product loading and unloading. Dryers are constructed with non-continuous interconnecting struts to prevent heat transfer to the exterior surface. Features include an Allen Bradley controller and interface, HEPA filtration of incoming and exhaust air, and a full validation package (FAT/IQ/OQ/PQ/SAT). Mixers use a bottom impeller and a side-mounted variable-speed chop- per. Units come equipped with an easy-to-use PLC. Options include an automatic or manual spray system, a jacketed vessel, ATEX-rated explosion-proof motors, an automatic CIP system, and an agitator/impeller lifting sys- tem. Company also offers technical service and spare parts. Key International, Cranbury, NJ 609 619 3685 www.keyinternational.com
