" T h i s m u l t i m i l l i o n - d o l l a r investment demonstrates our com- mitment to providing both opera- tional flexibility and expansive capacity in meeting those demands to bring life-saving medicines to patients around the world." PCI's investment at the Rockford site also includes a plant expansion intended to support further growth in the clinical trial business that will add approximately 40,000 square feet of space for new packaging suites and office space for the com- pany's growing staff. The investment is one of a series of capacity expan- sion initiatives at company locations around the world, including multiple facility enlargements, cold-chain and ultra-cold storage extension, installations of additional packaging lines, and significant expansion of its serialization solutions. "Choosing the right contract packaging business partner—one that can consistently and reliably deliver high-quality product quickly while providing the flexibility to manage the peaks and valleys of changing forecasts—is critical to our customers," said Angella Sutthi- wan, vice president and general during the process—ensures only the highest quality output." While the new line is able to sup- port solid oral dosage, powder, and liquid bottling, demand is such that Schroeder anticipates it will be pri- marily used for solid oral dosage forms. The expansion increases Rockford's capacity by 100 million bottles per year, allowing the com- pany to produce more than 1 billion bottles annually at the facility. While Antares Vision supplied the serialization technology, another long-time partner, Xyntek, added the technology to the new bottling lines. Xyntek is a provider of IT, automa- tion, and compliance solutions based in Newtown, PA, and an exclusive distributor of Antares Vision in the US. According to Elliot Abreu, Xyn- tek's senior vice president, the expe- rience of the companies involved helped make the serialization portion of the installation go smoothly. "Adding serialization and full product aggregation technology to a new bottling line with a tight time- line and critical milestones in terms of product quality and production rates could have been stressful, but with more than 15 bottling lines already implemented inside PCI and teams on both sides who really understand the nuances of serializa- tion, this project went like a dream," said Abreu. "The combination of Antares Vision's advanced serializa- tion technology, PCI's understand- ing of the subject, and Xyntek's pas- sion for right-first-time turnkey The expansion increases Rockford's capacity by 100 million bottles per year, allowing the company to produce more than 1 billion bottles annually at the facility.
