Tablets & Capsules May 2019 37 Vacuum conveyor Low-rate vacuum conveyor gently delivers pharmaceutical powders to capsule-filling machines, tablet presses, packaging machines, or other process vessels. Stainless-steel unit con- veys products from 0.5 cubic feet per minute up to 1,500 pounds per hour and meets FDA specifications. Conveyor draws material directly from drums, boxes, or other storage containers, eliminating the need for manual scooping, which can lead to messy dumping or mishandling. System features a compact design and tool-free disassembly for easy cleaning. Dust-tight connection between the receiver and press hopper provides maximum cleanliness and product integrity, and the automatic pulse-jet filter cleaning system ensures high operat- ing performance. Level sensor automatically starts the con- veying cycle when the material level is low in the tablet press hopper. Conveyor is powered by an air-operated venturi power unit or a high-efficiency electric blower with few mov- ing parts for minimal maintenance. Complete package includes the vacuum conveyor, power unit, vacuum hose, conveying wand, and UL-listed control panel. Vac-U-Max, Belleville, NJ 973 759 4600 www.vac-u-max.com Powder recovery system Uni-Dust Powder Saver cyclone captures up to 99.9 percent of waste powder from pharmaceutical oral solid dosage processes such as tablet compression and encapsulation. System connects to the extraction line of a tablet press or capsule filling machine, collecting powders before they reach the central dust collection system. The captured waste material can be used for batch loss reconciliation or reintroduced to the process when protocol permits. System features GMP-compliant stainless-steel construction, is designed to be mounted inside the process room to guarantee the integrity of captured material, and is compatible with the standard airflows of tablet presses and encapsulation machines. Powder recovery system prevents blinding and frequent replacement of expensive filters in central dust collection systems or vacuum cleaners and is free of moving parts and filters, which reduces maintenance costs. System minimizes material loss and helps pharmaceutical manufacturers comply with FDA guidelines on batch reconciliation and yields. Cyclone can be retrofitted to existing processes. Hanningfield North America, Hillsborough, NC 919 338 2884 www.hanningfield.com Level switch Dynatrol CL‐10GJ CIP level switch easily obtains high, inter- mediate, or low point measurement in storage bins, hoppers, or feeders. Switch's vibrating paddle provides consistent results with bulk solid materials that tend to pack or bridge. Switch provides superior performance in dusty environments and is suitable for measuring dry pharmaceutical or nutraceu- tical products and materials, including tablets, capsules, soft- gels, powders, and fillers, with bulk densities ranging from less than 0.5 to greater than 60 pounds per cubic foot. Spe- cialized switches can be used in temperatures exceeding 300°F. G series level switches are approved for Class I, Group C and D; Class II, Groups E, F, and G; and Class III services. Switches are built in the US; are factory calibrated; require no field adjustments; and contain no moving parts, gaskets, or seals, making them virtually wear-free. Switches can be com- bined with the company's EC-501A control unit to actuate process control equipment, level alarms, or indicator lights. Dynatrol, Houston, TX 800 231 2062 www.dynatrolusa.com
