Catalent purchases BMS facility in Italy SOMERSET, NJ—Catalent, a pharmaceutical CDMO, has pur- chased a Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) manufacturing and packaging facility in Anagni, Italy. The 305,000-square- foot facility's capabilities include pri- mary and secondary packaging solu- tions, including serialization, to sup- port product launches for oral solid, sterile, and biologic products. Catal- ent will continue to manufacture the existing BMS product portfolio cur- rently produced at the site. The com- pany invented the first vertical tablet deduster in 1975 to address produc- tion problems caused by dusty tab- lets in the pharmaceutical industry. The company's first deduster model, the E79, can still be found in many tablet production suites today. PCI Pharma expands Tredegar facility PHILADELPHIA, PA—PCI Phar- ma Services, a pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical CDMO, has announced an expansion of its Trede- gar facility in Wales, UK, to strength- en its high-potency drug manufac- turing and development capabilities including both clinical and commer- cial supply. The investment involves expanding the contained oral solid dosage form manufacturing facility to double the large-scale granulation and fluid-bed drying capacity. The expan- sion will also include additional space for new potent handling capabilities, additional analytical capacity, and a small-scale processing area to allow early stage non-GMP processing and formulation. The expansion is expect- ed to be completed in late 2021. Bosch is now Syntegon WAIBLINGEN, Germany—Bosch Packaging Technology is now Syn- tegon Technology and is an inde- pendent enterprise from Bosch. The renamed company will focus on intelligent and sustainable technolo- gies for the pharmaceutical and food industries. Syntegon Technology employs 6,100 people at more than 30 locations worldwide. PCI acquires Bellwyck PHILADELPHIA, PA—PCI Phar- ma Services (PCI), a pharmaceuti- cal and biopharmaceutical global supply chain solutions provider, has acquired Bellwyck Pharma Services, Toronto, Canada, a primary and sec- ondary packaging and labeling pro- vider for clinical trial and commercial drug markets. The acquisition will add four GMP-compliant facilities to PCI's existing network, bringing the total to 25 GMP facilities in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacif- ic. Additionally, the acquisition will allow PCI to establish a market pres- ence in Canada and Germany. This is PCI's third acquisition outside of the US in the last three years. Korsch appoints Bicor as Mexican sales and service partner BERLIN, Germany—Korsch, a global tablet press manufacturer and supplier, has appointed Bicor Tech- nologies as its exclusive sales and ser- vice partner in Mexico, offering the full line of Korsch equipment. Bicor will employ local service engineers with full Korsch factory training to provide service and maintenance and run a Korsch OEM spare-parts inventory warehouse in Mexico City. people news John Bournas has left his posi- tion as chief executive officer and president of the International Soci- ety for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE). The ISPE board appointed Tim Howard to assume the role of acting CEO and president while the board begins a search for a perma- nent replacement. Howard served on the ISPE international board of directors from 2011 to 2019 and was chair in 2018. ACG, a supplier of pharmaceu- tical manufacturing products, has appointed Alexander Robertson as chief marketing officer, replacing Peter Neve, who decided to move back to his home country. From the company's head office in Mumbai, India, Rober tson will be respon- sible for continuing to drive the company's marketing initiatives and current growth. The IPEC-Americas board of trustees has elected Meera Raguhu- ram, director of regulatory strategy and policy at Lubrizol Advanced Materials, as vice chair for admin- istrative affairs and Douglas Muse, associate consultant for compendial affairs global quality laboratories at Eli Lilly, as vice chair for har- monization and compendial mono- graph. Ron Kelly, senior princi- pal scientist at Amgen, and Joseph Zeleznik, technical product man- ager at IMCD US and member of Tablets & Capsules' technical advisory board, were also elected as execu- tive committee officers.
