CPhI North America, a pharma- ceutical trade show, returns to Phila- delphia for its fourth annual meeting, which will be held at the Pennsyl- vania Convention Center May 5-7. The tri-state region around Philadel- phia, also known as Cellicon Valley, is home to more than 80 percent of the US pharmaceutical industry. This year, organizers expect more than 5,000 pharmaceutical profes- sionals to attend the 3-day show. More than 570 companies f rom ever y part of the pharmaceutical supply chain will exhibit their prod- ucts and services. The show floor will be divided into the following seven unique zones: • Drug development • Manufacturing ingredients • Fine and specialty chemicals • Bioprocessing • Machinery • Packaging • Finished drug products Education New for 2020, all attendees will have access to the conference por- CPhI North America a preview Pharmaceutical trade show returns to Philadelphia tion of the trade show. Educational sessions will be held in three teach- ing theaters on the show floor. The drug delivery and development the- ater will feature topics such as: • The digital transformation of drug development; • Overcoming formulation chal- lenges posed by new therapies; • T he r ole of exc ipie nt s in advanced f unctionalit y and drug development; • Securing the supply chain; • Alternative deliver y mecha- nisms; and • Cannabinoid-derived drugs. The keynote for the drug man- ufact ur ing theater will be g iven by a representative from the FDA Office of Manufacturing Quality.
