46 / July 2020 powderbulk.com PBE AROUND THE INDUSTRY Vortex receives award for recycling efforts Vortex, Salina, KS, was recognized for its commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility, and making the world a better place by Solutions-Based Customer Recycling Program (SCRAP) founded by Cope Plastics Inc. Vortex was awarded the Gold Level Milestone award, which recognizes companies who have achieved a total of 200,000 pounds of recycled industrial plastics. Vortex reached the milestone after 6 years. SCRAP recognizes companies making a conscious effort to recycle surplus plastic materials. In 2016, Vortex achieved the Green Level Milestone Award for recycling 50,000 pounds of industrial plastics fol- lowed by the Silver Level Milestone Award in 2018 for recycling 100,000 pounds of plastics. Vortex supplies slide-gate, diverter, and iris valves and loading spouts for handling dry bulk sol- ids. Cope Plastics, based in Alton, IL, has 16 branch locations and is a plastics distributor and fabricator of machined plastic parts. PEOPLE NEWS AZO Inc., Memphis, TN, has announced that Kevin Pecha, food sales manager, is one of two directors- at-large selected in March to serve the SNAC International Associate Executive Council. SNAC International is an association with more than 400 members that rep- resents snack food manufacturers and suppliers to the industry. Pecha brings 25 years of experience work- ing alongside manufacturers in the snack food industry through his work at AZO, which supplies ingre- dient automation and processing equipment. In his role, he'll help ensure association members get value out of their membership. Flexicon announces 50,000-square-foot expansion project Flexicon Corp., Bethlehem, PA, has announced that it's expanding. The manufacturer will move to a new 50,000-square-foot headquarters in Lehigh Valley Industrial Park VI, which is two doors down from the company's existing space on Emrick Boulevard. The new facility includes eight loading docks and one drive-in door and will serve as additional assembly and warehouse space. The expansion is the second for the company after it relocated to the Lehigh Valley area in 2001. The company supplies bulk mate- rial handling equipment, including mechanical conveying, pneumatic conveying, bulk bag- related, and weighbatching systems. SUPPLIER NOTES Imperial Industries offers silo installation, erection services Imperial Industries Inc., Roths- child, WI, has announced that it's now offering silo installation and erection services available through Industrial Tank Services, the com- pany's field service team. The company cited strong demand from customers for a tank inspection program for silos, either for silos from Imperial Industries or other silo manufacturers. The company is often called to sites where silos have no identification information or may have been manufactured by companies that no longer exist. Imperial Industries is a silo manu- facturer with more than 38 years of experience.
