20 POWDER COATING, March 2018 Nanoindentation tester for automotive coatings Using the FISCHERSCOPE HM2000 nanoindentation tester makes the de- termination of material characteristics like surface hardness, cross-linking, elastic modulus, and healing behavior in case of scratches in automotive coatings sim- ple and easy. Tester allows several chemical process parameters to be determined quickly during manufacturing or hardening of automotive paint coatings. Tester measures coatings thicker than 1 micrometer (0.04 mils) in a broad range of applications, from polymeric automotive clear coats to ceramic diamond-like carbon coatings. Fischer Technology, Windsor, CT 860/683-0781 www.fischer-technology.com Coating thickness gauges Models CMI155 and CMI157 gauges measure the thickness of single layer coat- ings or the total thickness of applied coatings on iron, steel, aluminum, and other metal substrates. Gauges have a probe foot designed for smooth surfaces and an ex- tended measurement range, making them ideal for automotive finishers as well as paint and powder coaters, coating inspectors, and electroplating plants. Compact, handheld gauges are factory calibrated and automatically select the best measure- ment technique for the base material. Paul N. Gardner, Pompano Beach, FL 954/946-9454 www.gardco.com Automotive Powder Coating Pulse-jet filter cleaning vacuums for automotive applications Compressed-air-powered industrial vacuum cleaners meet the definition of an intrinsically safe system. Models 40008, 40012, and 40013 don't use electricity, don't generate heat during operation, and are the first-line offer- ing for applications requiring stringent dust control and clean up, including Class II, Division II environments. Pulse-jet filter cleaning vacuums meet NFPA 77 requirements for grounding and bonding. Vacuums are offered as a complete system with specific static control components, including a static-dissipative vacuum hose, anti- sparking inlet, and more.
