With more than 45 symposia, the technical program will feature paper presentations on a wide range of corrosion topics, including ad- vances in materials, pipeline integrity, and corrosion monitoring technologies. Special forums throughout the week will address such topics as coating asset management, pipeline safety, and more. Strengthen your expertise by at- tending Research in Progress forums throughout the conference to witness the latest developments in corrosion. Commander Mike Abrashoff will be t h e f e a t u r e d k e y n o t e s p e a k e r . Abrashoff, a former commander in the US Navy, is a world-renowned expert on management techniques, leadership, and the importance of workplace cul- t u r e . S h o r t l y a f t e r h i s k e y n o t e , Abrashoff will join Richard Hays, Terry May, and Bill Hedges to share candid stories during the Tuesday Leadership Forum and provide you with tools and skills to empower you in your role. This year's plenary lecture, "A Brief History of Environmental Cracking," will be given by Dr. Peter L. Andresen, FNACE. Dr. Andresen's expertise is in the area of corrosion and environmental effects on mechanical properties and in- tegrity of materials. The lecture will highlight the industrial history of envi- ronmental cracking and suggest ways to resolve it through R&D and imple- mentation in codes. Other events. Several other lectures and opportunities will take place at the show. Featured outside of the exhibit hall, the product showcase will high- light exhibitors' offerings, including a brief description of each product and the corresponding booth number. The Willis Rodney Whitney Award Lecture will recognize public contributions to the science of corrosion and honor re- cipient Dr. Srdjan Nesic. The FNACE Frank Newman Speller Award Lecture will recognize contributions to the prac- tice of corrosion engineering and honor recipient Dr. Robert Tapping. The Technical Committees 101 gather- ing will take place on Sunday and Mon- day mornings. This is where technical committee officers and NACE staff members will provide basic information on how technical committees work, the benefits of being on technical commit- tees, and how you can become involved. Networking opportunities. As always, there are numerous special events built into CORROSION 2018, giving you ample opportunities to expand your network of corrosion professionals. These events include the NACE Foun- dation's Sunday morning NACE Race, the Darrel D. Byerley Memorial Golf Tournament, Clays for a Cause, the Opening Night Reception, the "30 Below" event for students and young professionals under 30 years of age, and the Awards Dinner. Don't miss the GenNEXT Bash, to be held at the Van Buren on Tuesday night. Join the NACE Foundation as they recognize outstanding students and scholarship recipients for 2018 and celebrate the future of the industry. After the award recipients are honored, the lights will go down and the music will turn up as Salt Lake City's Groove Merchants Band makes a return visit to the stage. This versatile, high-energy band brings excitement and crowd in- teraction that keeps the dance floor filled all night long. Tickets are $65 and can be purchased with your show regis- tration. Conference shuttles will be available for transportation. More than 200 technical and adminis- trative meetings will also be held throughout the week, enabling mem- bers to work on standards and reports, exchange technical information, and manage association business. PC Show information Location. CORROSION 2018 will be held at the Phoenix Conven- tion Center, 100 N 3rd St., Phoenix, AZ 85004. The venue is located about 10 minutes from the Phoenix International Airport. Hotels. Several rooms have been reserved at hotels near the show. NACE International is providing shuttle service between the Phoenix Convention Center and official hotels. Exhibit hours. 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 16; 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, and Wednesday, April 18; 9:00 a.m. to noon on Thursday, April 19. Registration. Registration is $775 for NACE members and $975 for nonmembers. One-day, two- day, student, and exhibits-only passes are also available for reduced prices.
