The Tigers defeated No. 22/24 Ohio State at the FIU Combat Classic, 7-3 and shocked No. 16/17 Stanford in its home opener, 2-1. The win at Stanford is the first by a C-USA team at a pac-10 opponent in regular season play. Memphis also defeated Kentucky, 3-2, a few days before the Wildcats entered the natational rankings and fell to No. 22 Texas A&M, 1-0, in nine innings despite a school record 19 strikeouts by Carly Hummel.
