2011 season previewsprints/hurdlesQuaniQua JOneS RObert JaCkSOn Tayanna SimpSOn Jaz DaviS Coach Nic Fortenberry has established a sprints and hurdles group that rivals any squad in Conference USA. The men’s side boasts two NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifiers from 2010: senior Richard Lowe (400m hurdles) and junior Robert Jackson (110m hurdles) became Memphis’ first track representatives at the NCAA Championships since Mate Nemeth in the 3000m steeplechase in 2004. RiChard LOwe The women’s group of short track runners has its own NCAA Qualifier in Lashundra Kershaw, who was a 100 and 200m dash qualifier in 2010; she’s just the second Lady Tiger sprinter to go to the NCAA Outdoor Championships (Keenan Gibson, 2003). She’s joined by regional qualifier Tayanna Simpson, along with rising hurdler Quaniqua Jones in what should prove to be a formidable 2011 sprint group. - 32 - LaShundra KerShaw
