BIG NIGHT GROUP PUTS AN INTIMATE SPIN ON THE SAN FRANCISCO RESTAURANT SCENE IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE SAN FRANCISCO restaurant scene, then you know as of recent years there is a new player in town. Big Night Group, owned and operated by Anna Weinberg, whom I have known since the opening of Town Hall days, currently boasts three hip and very popular places—Park Tavern, Cavalier and Marlowe—and has a fourth in the works. Weinberg, who describes herself as an energy junkie, considers herself very lucky and has an instinctual ability to see a space and imagine what it would look like as a restaurant. She was decorating and re-decorating her bedroom 25 times at a young age, and somehow it always had a bar in it. She loves creating restaurants and concepts. When you walk in to one of her restaurants, Weinberg wants you to feel like you are walking in to the right party in town. She wants to be part of the fabric of people's lives and she loves to see her regular guests come back. We talk about the restaurants being a "safe bet," and I remember taking my now fiancée to Park Tavern for brunch on our first date, because I knew it was a safe bet. Weinberg believes success comes putting the work in and treating her team like family. She loves the relationship her restaurants have with San Francisco and want to give her guests more. Soon to come in the old Wexler's space on Sacramento Street, is Leo's Oyster Bar, named after Weinberg's son, where the team will provide a great seafood experience, with vintage Champagnes, a Champagne lounge and killer cocktails. Her husband and partner Anna Weinberg owns and operates the Big Night Group in San Francisco.
