62 / January 2020 powderbulk.com PBE ENVIROPLANT Envision Plastics creates food packaging from reclaimed plastic Envision Plastics, a post-consumer resin producer, has received a Let- ter of Non-Objection (NOL) to use reclaimed plastics from the com- pany's OceanBound Plastic initia- tive in packaging for food prod- ucts. The NOL allows Envision to use the resin "at levels up to 100 percent in recycled High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) packaging for all food types under Conditions of Use C-H." "We are thrilled to receive this Letter of Non-Objection from the FDA — it has been years in the making," says Mark Shafer, senior vice president and general man- ager of Envision Plastics. "This product offers brands a solution to all of its new products using green chemistry. DuPont aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent, which will include sourc- ing 60 percent of its electricity from renewable energy. Launched in 2017, the Ocean- Bound Plastic program creates post-consumer resin using plastics that were collected from polluted areas around the world. The pro- gram aims to reduce environmental waste while also creating a sustain- able plastic option. DuPont announces 2030 Sustainability Commitments DuPont, one of the world's largest chemical companies, announced nine long-term goals that are part of its 2030 Sustainability Commitments. DuPont will focus on creating a more circular economy and consid- ering the lifecycle impacts in the markets the company serves.
