14 / March 2020 powderbulk.com Aperam, Tekna enter into joint venture Aperam SA, Luxembourg, and Tekna, a subsidiary of Arendals Fossekompani ASA with its head- quarters in Sherbrooke, Canada, have entered into a joint venture, which will combine the two com- panies' expertise to manufacture nickel and specialty alloy spherical powders through a new company, ImphyTek Powders SAS. The new joint venture is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding agreed to by the companies in 2018 where the two companies collab- orated to develop high-quality spherical powders for metal addi- tive manufacturing (AM) and metal injection molding. Aperam supplies stainless, elec- trical, and specialty steel globally with facilities in Brazil, Belgium, spinoff in 2015 with MacCleary serving as president of the business under its former name since 2012. Covestro LLC president Haakan Jonsson succeeded MacCleary as chairman in January 2020. MacCleary was also an active member of the American Chem- istry Council, a trade association for American chemical companies. He most recently was chairman of ACC's board of directors as well as chair of its sustainability committee and was a proponent of sustainability in the chemicals industry throughout his career. In 2019, Covestro became a founding member of the Alliance to End Plas- tic Waste, an industry group that's pledged more than $1.5 billion for sustainable efforts around the world. 2020. MacCleary retires after 40 years with Bayer, Covestro Jerry MacCleary retired from being the head of Covestro's Pittsburgh, PA, business unit at the end of 2019. He started at the company in 1979 as an accountant and, over the years, worked his way up to chair- man and CEO of Bayer's Covestro LLC spinoff. Covestro LLC is the North American arm of Covestro AG, a global supplier of polycar- bonate, polyurethanes, and other materials with headquarters in Leverkusen, Germany.
