Netzsch successful in trademark infringement action In early 2020, Netzsch announced that it won its trademark infringe- ment action against a competing company from China. Puhler Fein- mahltechnik GmbH, Guangzhou, was using modified forms of the Netzsch Premier Mill and Zeta trademarks. Combatting the trade- mark infringements was made possible after Puhler also appeared on the American market with the Netzsch brands, according to the company. The civil action took place in the US District Court, Southern District of Indiana, where judges found Puhler's renderings of the Premier Mill P logo and Zeta brand names to be trademark infringe- ments. As part of the judgment, the US court prohibited Puhler from using the trademarks in a "trade- mark-infringing" manner and awarded a sum of $4 million as compensatory damages. Bühler Group sells flour ingredient business to Bakels In December, Bühler finalized the sale of its flour ingredient business to Bakels, a Swiss company whose main focus is on bakery ingre- dients and application solutions. All shares of China-based Bul- hler Bangsheng Food Ingredients (Guangzhou) Co. were signed over to Bakels, and 70 employees imme- diately relocated to the new owner's location. Both parties agreed not to disclose the selling price. Bakels has more than 2,750 employees, and its main focus is on ingredients for bakery and confec- tionary. "With Bakels, we've found an excellent owner and strategic partner for flour ingredient solu- tions," says Johannes Wick, CEO of Bühler's Grains & Food business. The two companies will cooperate strategically to offer flour ingredi- ent solutions to milling and bakery customers. Bühler has been active in the flour ingredient business since 2010. During that time, the company proved profitable focusing mainly on the Chinese market. The com- pany projects a positive future out- look for flour ingredients due to the growing demand for baked foods, increasing food safety levels, and rising demand for nutritional foods. This partnership will help foster a better understanding of the entire value chain and help improve already existing consulting capa- bilities, says the company. "Now we can do this even better, thanks to our professional partner who is active in a large array of segments," says CEO Wick. "We're convinced that this business can unleash its full potential on a global scale, with Bakels as owner and Bühler as a strategic partner." Solimar Pneumatics now selling BFM connectors Solimar Pneumatics, Minneapolis, MN, now handles BFM connectors. The BFM system, which includes spigots and connectors in a full range of sizes, helps transform material conveying connectors from labor-intensive hose clamps to snap-in fittings. Using the Seeflex connectors, which are made from clear, memory-free polyurethane that won't fracture with flexing or retain material, result in a tighter fit under higher pressures, says the company. The connectors also have been explosion tested in excess of 60 kPa. Go to www.solimarpneu matics.com for more information.
