E ARE SO GRATEFUL THAT GOD IN HIS GRACE has allowed me to lead Capitol Ministries for its first 20 years. My prayer is that the Lord will give me the next 20 years to shape this outreach to political leaders across the globe. Our work is to help fulfill the Great Commission by taking the Gospel to the most influential people in the world from the city halls of small town America to federal Capitols on foreign soil and all government offices in between. In doing so, the work of Capitol Ministries has a profound effect on the direction of a nation. W Many Christian ministries would like to stop the moral decay of the United States and attempt to do that through lobbying Legislators for better laws. Capitol Ministries takes a different approach entirely. We understand that a Lawmaker who rejects the Author of Scripture cannot be expected to accept the precepts of His book, and so we take the Gospel to the policy makers. We believe in changing the world one heart at a time. Looking to the Bible for our mandate, we find it in Acts 9:15: ". . . bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel." In reaching this second people group, kings and leaders of nations, Capitol Ministries takes our example from Paul who took the Gospel — not complaints about bad government — to the leaders of the world. Indeed, following his Acts 9:15 calling, Paul traveled almost exclusively to capital cities, the cities of greatest influence, on his three missionary journeys. As he traveled he ministered to Jews and Gentiles for sure, but the point here is this: He was called specifically as well to evangelize kings. It is this same missionary emphasis that he entrusted to Timothy — and ostensibly the future Church — as his personal ministry came to a close. It was by this method that followers of Christ "turned the world upside down" (Acts 17:6b, NKJV) in a relatively short First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and who desires all men to be saved and to come to From the President 4 CM 20th | From the President "F or the world to change, the hearts of leaders must change, and Capitol Ministries is dedicated to changing the hearts of the leaders of the world. When Paul was first given his calling in Acts Chapter 9, it was a unique calling to go to Jews, Gen les, and the Gen le kings. He was to reach everyone in the world, but there was a very specific statement about going to the leaders. There is something unique about leaders. When Capitol Ministries takes the Word of God to Leaders, think about what can be done not only in our D.C. Capitol and in state Capitols across the United States, but also in Capitols around the world. Leaders will know Him, and they will be encouraged to follow biblical principles and lead with integrity. What a blessing that would be to the people of those na ons. It is very significant. I do absolutely believe in the advancement of this ministry worldwide." James Lankford U.S. Senator Oklahoma
