Developing Greatness10 All-Americans last 5 yearsCharlOtte AbrahamSen SuSan KinG Gail Lee CharlOtte AbrahamSen Gaute MyklebuSt Recent success has spurned the Tigers on to several national accolades, including eight All-American honors in the last five seasons. Steffen Nerdal, who graduated in 2010, left Memphis as the most decorated athlete in the track and field program’s history, with four All-American nods to his credit. Nerdal was twice an All-American in the weight throw (2009, 2010) and earned nods in the hammer throw (2008, 2010). Gail Lee became the U of M’s first two-time All-American since the early 1980s, earning the nod twice for her work in the shot put in 2006 and 2007. The 2008 season was kind to the U of M as a whole, with three different athletes earning All-American honors. In addition to Nerdal’s first nod as an All-American, Susan King (shot put) and Charlotte Abrahamsen (pentathlon) gave Memphis its first multiple-All-American season since 1981. King earned All-America status in the indoor and outdoor shot put that season. Steffen Nerdal Head Coach Kevin Robinson also tutored All-American Gaute Myklebust, who became Memphis’ first All-America in over 20 years when he earned the nod in the discus in 2004. - 4 - SuSan KinG
