2010 outlook SOPHOMORES MARIJA JOVANOVIC AND ALTRESE HAWKINS The 2010 edition of Memphis volleyball will take on a new look–one that it has never seen in its 40-year existence. With the departure of four seniors and a pair of sophomores from last year’s club, head coach April Jauregui and her staff reloaded, bring in nine new student-athletes for the upcoming season. Included in that group are five four-year transfers and five true freshmen. In addition, of the nine new faces, five hail from Belgrade, Serbia, giving Memphis an international flavor it has never seen before. Of the team’s 15 players, eight are from outside of the U.S. Combined with a core group of six returning letterwinners, who have all seen time in starting roles throughout their careers, Jauregui is excited about the potential of this year’s team. Jauregui is fortunate to have six solid returnees back to lead the club and help the newcomers make smooth transitions into a new system. 2010 MEMPHIS VOLLEYBALL EXPERIENCE 39
