The Memphis Tigers made their third team appearance at the NCAA Championships in 1988. The U of M won the Metro Conference title, and finished the year in the top-10 in all 12 tournaments. At the NCAA Championships, Memphis finished 28th with a two-round score of 622. The Tigers were led by Steve Metz, who tied for 54th. Also competing at the NCAA Championships were Gregg Gill, Mack Maness, Fred Mangum and Tim Manus.
