Campers will be divided into age groups, with scheduled ac vi es appropriate for their age group. Addi- onally, each age group will have a special program they will par cipate in for 1-2 hours per week throughout the summer. Kinder Camp - PBS A erschool Adventure: This is a collec on of mul -media ac vi es that include char- acters from your favorite PBS KIDS shows. Wagoneers (1st Grade) - Sports Revolu on: This new program will introduce kids to new games and sports that are age-appropriate and inspire them to have fun and be ac ve. Pioneers (2nd Grade) - NRPA Wildlife Explorers: This program comes from the NRPA (Na onal Recrea on and Parks Associa on), and connects youth to nature through a variety of nature-based games and ac vi- es; while comple ng their own Wildlife Explorer Workbook. Explorers (3rd Grade) - CATCH: Stands for a "Coordinated Approach To Child Health." This pro- gram unites mul ple players in a child's life to create a community of health; introducing fun ac vi es that teach the value of a healthy and ac ve life. Mountaineers (4th Grade) - C.H.A.R.A.C.T.E.R: This program will focus on Compassion, Humility, Ac ve, Responsibility, Adventurous, Courageousness, Team- work, Extraordinary, and Respec ulness through ac- vi es and discussion that challenge themselves and each other. It will allow par cipants to learn more about themselves and in the process, have fun! Trailblazers (5th & 6th Grades) - Camp Quest: This program, designed by Carson City Parks and Recrea- on, teaches the value of nature and being ac ve in the outdoors. Each week, Trailblazers will par cipate in a local outdoor ac vity such as hiking, biking, or fishing, o en aided by organiza ons such as the Ne- vada Department of Wildlife. SWIM LESSONS All campers have the ability to par cipate in swim lessons while a ending Camp. Swim lessons will be offered at a special me specific to Camp Carson campers. Don't worry about ge ng your kids to swim lessons, Camp staff will take care of that for you. Ad- di onal fee and registra on required. FIELD TRIPS Campers will have the ability to par cipate in two types of field trips: local and regional. Local field trips will be to loca ons around Carson City, such as parks, and are included in registra on. Regional field trips charter school buses, and take campers to loca ons in Reno, Tahoe, or Douglas County for the majority of the day. Regional field trips are op onal and require registra on and addi onal fees. Fees vary depending on the field trip. SPRING/SUMMER 2019 21
