These calculations will focus application to acute care, long-term care, and pediatric specialty areas. Basic care concepts and the nursing process are utilized to meet the needs of adult and older adult patients. Prerequisites: Admission into the Nursing Program. NUR172 / 9 CREDITS / 16 PERIODS NURSING THEORY AND SCIENCE II Utilization of Nurse of the Future competencies to develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes to provide safe, quality patient care across the wellness-illness continuum in selected medical-surgical and mental health patients. Prerequisites: (BIO202 and NUR152) or permission of Nursing Department Chair. NUR252 / 9 CREDITS / 16 PERIODS NURSING THEORY AND SCIENCE III Application of critical thinking strategies related to holistic care of the newborn and childbearing patients. Integration of concepts related to holistic care of adults and older adult patients with selected acute and chronic alterations in health. Integration of professional nursing standards in role development. Utilization of previous knowledge of physical, biologic, psycho-social sciences, and the cultural, spiritual aspects of nursing care. Integration of concepts of nutrition, pharmacology, communication, health promotion, and pathophysiology into nursing care. Prerequisites: (CRE101 and NUR172 and PSY101) or permission of Nursing Department Chair.
