Remind students that we only see the sun in the day sky. This is one way that the day sky and night sky are different. Remind students of the Big Idea Question, How are day and night different? T9e  Directed Inquiry Managing The Investigation Time Advance Preparation 15 minutes, then 5 minutes for observation later in day 1; 5 minutes for observation in the morning and midday on days 2 and 3 Groups small groups of 4 • Make 3 copies of Learning Master 12 for each group so that students can make drawings on days 1, 2, and 3. • Choose a landmark on the school grounds (such as the playground, the school building, or a rock) that can be used as a reference point. • Decide in advance which times during the day will work best for observation.
