W e believe libraries—whether school, public, academic, or special—provide exceptional value to the communities they serve. It is now more important than ever that we engage our customers from around the world in order to discuss how libraries can demonstrate this value to their stakeholders and users. Part of my focus at Gale is identifying areas of opportunity where we can partner with libraries to help them deliver a better experience to their users. We know our school customers are tackling specific challenges when it comes to technology and curriculum. While trying to improve student outcomes, they're faced with new national and state standards, changing technology, and a lack of professional development for implementing that technology—not to mention the inequity of access among their students who themselves have diverse learning styles. We understand these challenges and are working to deliver resources to our customers that are easy to use, mobile-ready, are aligned with curriculum standards, and can be integrated into the classroom and student workflow. We're arming teachers and librarians with the professional development tools and services they need to move to a digital curriculum, drive stronger collaboration between the classroom and the library, and improve the learning and research experience. For over 60 years, Gale has been committed to library advocacy. Driving measurable improvements in student performance and engagement is a goal we all share—and we're excited to partner with schools to provide a rich, interactive learning experience. Paul A.
