Pasadera Country Club Shines Again N e w O w n e r s h i p P r o m i s e s a N e w V i s i o n B Y A L A N S H I P N U C K O n Nov. 27, 2018, a new era began at Pasadera Country Club, when nine local businessmen officially took possession of the club. Their mission is simple: reinvent Pasadera after a decade of neglect. "The past is the past," says Chris Laver, a partner in the new ownership group. "We are moving forward and there are a lot of great things happening. We think the future is very bright at Pasadera." The club opened in 2000 to great fanfare—course designer Jack Nicklaus struck the first ceremonial tee ball. Located on Highway 68 just east of Laguna Seca, Pasadera had an enviably sunny location and gorgeous facilities, including a spectacular clubhouse. But the first ownership group did not marry club membership to the 225 homesites, losing an opportunity to build a strong community around Pasadera. When the finan- cial crisis of 2008 hit, the club went into bankruptcy and ultimately was put up for sale. Among the would- be buyers was a noted procurer of distressed properties, Donald Trump.
