In sync with the ever-growing popularity of the Mediterranean Diet, ITALY brings – yet again – the largest number of exhibitors at the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco. The California food event is second only to its New York City Summer sibling, in importance and size on the North American continent. The Italian Trade Commission, in collaboration with Universal Marketing, exclusive agent in Italy for the show organizer Specialty Food Association, will bring together an impressive range of exceptional products, all distinguished by their unique "Made in Italy" designation. "Once again, we are excited to amaze the visitors with the range of products coming from a large number of Italian regions, from Imperia to Apulia, from Alto-Adige to Calabria. They are crafted after traditional, sometimes hundred-years old recipes", said Pier Paolo Celeste, New York Trade Commissioner and Executive Director for the USA. He described the long-lasting fascination with all foods Italian: "Once you taste the purity of a panettone made with fresh eggs and butter, or the heartiness of the pasta drawn through bronze dies, or the cheeses made with the milk of cows grazing freely in the Italian Alps, there's no way you can go back to substitutes or imitations, even if they bear similar names. What was real in Old Italy is real today as well, and that's a fact". Pier Paolo Celeste urged the visitors to inquire about ways of ensuring they buy authentic Italian foods: "Look for the geographic denominations of origin (DOP Protected Denomination of Origin, IGP Protected Geographic Indication). They guarantee that the products were made in that specific area of Italy and nowhere else. Only those products can give you the real Taste of Italy." The list of the Italian exhibitors will be available in the official show catalog and on the show web page, as well as on the official web site of the Food & Wine Sector of the Italian Trade Commission in New York www.italianmade.com. For more information, contact The Italian Trade Commission directly by telephone 212.980.1500, fax 212.758.1050 or e-mail newyork@ice.it. The Italian Trade Commission and Universal Marketing Information Center will be located at booth 3946B. ITALY does it again at the 40th Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco
