M y son Greg and I were trying to find one of these in the '90s; it's a body style both of us love. We were joking around about who was going to find one first. Well, he found it — I bought it. The car was in a woodworking shop warehouse in Salinas, surrounded by cabinets and old Volvos. I have no idea how Greg found it there. We pulled the engine and rebuilt the transmission. The guy who did the paint work was a real perfectionist. To get the matte black on the hood just right, he hung the hood upside down and sprayed it from underneath. It's flawless. We got it on the road in 2011, about a 12-year project from start to finish. It's in the family car pool and is driven pretty much once a week. It gets thumbs up everywhere we drive it. This body style was only made for three years, and people don't see many of them. I'm pretty sure the Boss 351 was the fastest production car coming out of Detroit for the three years Ford made them — in a straight line. This car doesn't corner well at all!"
