tigers and the WNBa The Tigers have had a pair of players drafted to play in the WNBA. The first was LaTonya Johnson, who was drafted by the Utah Starzz in the third round of the 1998 draft. She played in over 170 career games in the WNBA, from 1998 to 2004, playing five years for the Starzz when they were based in Utah and one season in San Antonio. She also played part of the 2004 season with the Houston Comets. She also played 2003 and 2004 with the Chicago Blaze of the NWBL. Tamika Whitmore was drafted 30th overall in 1999 by the New York Liberty after leading the NCAA in scoring her senior season at Memphis. That began an 11-year WNBA career that included an All-Star honor as a member of the Indiana Fever (2006-2007). Whitmore also played with the Los Angeles Sparks (2004-2005) and the Connecticut Sun (2008- 09). In all, she played in 350 career games, with 239 starts and averaged 9.6 points and 3.9 rebounds for her lengthy career. She also embarked on a length international career in basketball, playing in Spain, France, Poland, Russia and the Czech Republic.
